Bio

Jenny is an award-winning playwright from Glasgow and her work for theatre and opera has been performed throughout the U.K. In 2013, she gained an MSc in Playwriting from the University of Edinburgh and received the inaugural David MacLennan Award resulting in the production of her play HOME at A Play, a Pie and a Pint. Her play THE GOOFOS PRESENT… was developed through a Playwrights Studio Scotland New Playwrights Award and was shortlisted for the Kings Cross Award. More recently, her play HOW THE DODO DIED AND OTHER STORIES was shortlisted for the inaugural Women’s Prize for Playwriting and the 2020 Stückemarkt at the Theatertreffen in Berlin. In 2024 her play REACH FOR THE STARS was shortlisted for the inaugural Victoria Wood Playwriting Prize for Comedy for which she received Special Commendation, and later in 2024 for the St Andrew's Playwriting Award. She has had plays performed and read at the Traverse, Oran Mor and The Arches and she is also an opera librettist and she has previously been a member of the Traverse Theatre’s Young Writers group and the Tron 100. She recently completed a Practice Research PhD at the University of Glasgow exploring the intersections between architectural drawing and playwriting to create a new methodology called Architexting.
