Declan Donnellan

Writer/Director Declan Donnellan is the co-founder and co-artistic director of the iconic theatre company Cheek By Jowl with Nick Ormerod. Declan's theatre credits include directing SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE for Disney/Sonia Friedman Productions and adapting VANITY FAIR, ANTIGONE, THE MANDATE and GREAT EXPECTATIONS which he co-wrote with Nick Ormerod for the RSC. With Nick, Declan co-directed the feature film BEL AMI.

Declan's seminal book THE ACTOR AND THE TARGET (NHB) on the theory of acting is one of the most successful academic theatre books of all time. In 2018 Declan won The Stanislavsky Award for Outstanding Contribution to World Theatre and in 2019 won the Special Golden Mask Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Theatre.
