Bio
Dugald Bruce-Lockhart is a writer, theatre director and actor, who trained at RADA after studying German at St Andrew’s University. He most recently directed Jonathan Maitland’s WILKO: LOVE, DEATH AND ROCK N' ROLL for Southwark Playhouse, and has been commissioned to adapt Gerald Durrell’s gothic horror story, THE ENTRANCE, into a play for the Mill at Sonning Theatre – under the title of THE SHADOW IN THE MIRROR - which he will also direct, in the autumn of 2025. Former associate director and actor with Edward Hall’s internationally acclaimed Shakespeare ensemble, Propeller, he directed the UK tour of Jonathan Maitland’s THE LAST TEMPTATION OF BORIS JOHNSON, for Glynis Henderson Productions, in which he also appeared, in the first production at the Park Theatre, as Michael Gove. Other freelance productions he has directed include ROMEO AND JULIET and AS YOU LIKE IT, in Catalan, at the Teatre Akadèmia in Barcelona; as well as BA graduate productions at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. As an actor, he recently played the role of Sir Wilfrid Robarts, in WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION; prior to that, he played Victor Prynne, in PRIVATE LIVES, at the Ambassador’s Theatre. His debut novel THE LIZARD – a thriller set in the Greek islands in ’88 – was published in 2020, and reviewed in The Guardian as ‘A read-at-a-sitting page-turner’. His follow-up novel, SECOND SKIN, is out in paperback this summer, reviewed in The Times as ‘Pleasingly brutal… break out the Retsina.’
