Matthew Gabrielli

Matthew Gabrielli is an award-winning neurodivergent writer for stage and screen, he describes his work as telling tales and having adventures, he’s interested in speculative fiction, weird tales, and mythology.

His play FOOL’S GOLD a social-magical-realist comedy won the Lancaster Playwriting Prize 2023. His debut play ZOMBIEGATE had a 3-week run at Theatre 503 in November 2023 proving to be a hit with critics and audiences alike with WhatsOnStage in a 4* review calling it “a compelling new play: smart, gripping, cautionary & bang-up-to-date” and was nominated for an Office for Most Promising Playwright.

In 2021 he created the immersive theatre experience THE LAPWORTH EXPERIMENT which took place in the Lapworth Museum of Geology after dark and was funded by Arts Council England.

Matthew was part of Graeae’s Beyond Artist Development Programme and alumni of Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse’s Young Writers’ Programme and has an MRes in Playwriting Studies from the University of Birmingham.
