Bio
Stuart is a composer/lyricist. He began writing at the age of 14 and in 1999 his first full length musical, SEARCHING, won him the Stoll Moss Theatres Award for Most Promising Under 18 Writer as part of the Vivian Ellis Awards. In 2014, Stuart wrote BEFORE AFTER a musical love story written with Timothy Knapman, which premiered in the studio space at The Other Palace (then known as The St. James Theatre) and continues it’s sold out productions in Tokyo, Japan. Also with Knapman, Stuart wrote his previous musical IMAGINARY ‘Imaginary’ which premiered at The Other Palace in August 2017 and was commissioned by the National Youth Music Theatre. The musical is available for licensing through TRW (Theatrical Rights Worldwide).
Previously, Stuart has written four other musicals including THE DIARY OF ME (represented at the Perfect Pitch Musicals 2008 West End Showcase), EARTH 3001- A Sci-Fi Musical, PIPER and an adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier’s REBECCA. Stuart won the fourth annual Tim Williams' Award for his song STORIES OF HEROES which featured in the Mercury Musical Developments' show BEYOND THE GATE, and soon afterwards his song 'If Nobody Knows Your Name' was featured in the show A SONG CYCLE FOR SOHO (also MMD).
Other projects currently in development are an adaptation of the Netflix documentary MAN VS. SNAKE with Daniel Fletcher, and an adaptation of the best-selling novel EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE by Jonathan Safran Foer. Stuart is also releasing a two part album of original work called ‘Melodies & Motion’ coming later this year.
Stuart is also Creative Director for United Theatrical (previous productions include THE ADDAMS FAMILY UK Tour and A SPOONFUL OF SHERMAN UK Tour), but is also a well-known performer who featured in such productions as the critically-acclaimed PARADE (Donmar Warehouse), THE SOUND OF MUSIC (Regent's Park), SHREK THE MUSICAL (Drury Lane) and THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW (European tour).
