Bio

Lucy Dwyer is a screenwriter from Jersey currently based in London. Working with Big Deal Films she was commissioned by Amy Buscombe at BBC Children’s as part of their SPARKS: NEW VOICES, NEW STORIES iPlayer series. Her original drama FLAKE is in development with Factual Fiction and RED Productions.

Lucy writes for screen with Kirsty Smith, they are mentored by Chris Chibnall on the Dancing Ledge Writers Scheme and have original TV projects and features in development with BBC Drama, Saffron Cherry, Studio Crook, Factual Fiction and RED Productions. They love collaborating, are experienced at adapting IP and are keen to be part of writers rooms.

Lucy and Kirsty have developed drama series for BBC One through BBC Drama North. Period drama AN OCCUPATION was adapted from IP while WE LOVE TELLY is based on their experiences working on late night TV prank shows in the noughties. They were hired to write comedy feature SUPER G’S for Lunar Lander Films which was shortlisted for BFI iFeatures, while mystery series ARE YOU HAPPY? was adapted from IP for Lime Pictures and The Agatha Christie Estate.

Original series THE LEGEND OF THE HACIENDA DJ BOOTH is in development with Studio Crook based on a (mostly) true story. Mystery drama DIRTY WORK is in development with Saffron Cherry; think Agatha Christie meets Rita, Sue and Bob Too. They are also developing a project about Page Three set in the 1980’s with Factual Fiction and former MP Clare Short. Their scripts have been finalists in All3 Media’s New Comedy Script Award, Funny Women Comedy Writing Award, BFI iFeatures Scheme and Sid Gentle’s Thousand Films.

As part of the Micro Short Films Collective Lucy wrote ART OF NOISE which was BFI NETWORK’S #Shortitout Pick of the Week and was a part of the DepicT! Official Selection. Lucy has also worked with Lou Stein on her theatre piece METAMORPHOSIS for Chickenshed Theatre as part of their Monolog 4 season. She is part of BAFTA Connect and The Jersey Film Collective.

Previously Lucy worked as a Producer developing and making comedy, entertainment and factual entertainment shows for the BBC, ITV, MTV, SKY, C4 and C5. Starting her career as a Production Secretary in BBC Music Entertainment she worked on ‘Later…with Jools Holland’, ‘Glastonbury’ and ‘The Mercury Music Prize’. From there she crossed over into Comedy and Entertainment, working her way up to Producer level on world famous brands such as ‘The Weakest Link’, ‘Eurovision’, and ‘BAFTA Tribute’.
